Elizabeth grew up on a farm in eastern North Carolina. She studied history at Vassar College and then returned to North Carolina to manage fresh produce packing and marketing business, where, among other things, she learned to make sales calls, manage inventory, and operate a forklift. After five years of operations and production management, she left for graduate school and earned a Ph.D. in 20th century American history at Duke University. After grad school she worked as a research associate at the Fuqua School of Business where she studied innovation management in large corporations and taught the history of innovation in Duke’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship program. At VFA, Elizabeth works with Fellows, company partners, and community partners in Ohio.
