Detroit has emerged from the 20th century with a diversified portfolio of awesome. Urban gardens, street artists, and microbreweries dot the post-industrial landscape, home to auto manufacturers and artists making their mark. Weekends are peppered with visits to Eastern Market to pick up local farm produce, bike trips to Belle Isle (the Central Park of Detroit), or a moment of silence in front of Diego Rivera’s famous mural at the Detroit Institute of Art. Not to mention, the vibrant startup scene is in full swing. A day in the life…
Start off the day at 1515, a combined black box theater and coffee shop, before heading to the M@dison building, the heart of Detroit’s startup scene, to work your day away. After hours, you could grab a drink at one of the bars or restaurants popping up around downtown– or if you’re lucky, there might be hangout in the Fellow-refurbished Rebirth Realty house where VFA Alumni are already building businesses. Our Detroit Fellows are in the thick of it, and wouldn’t have it any other way.
