Careers

Interested in joining the Venture for America team? We look for the same qualities in full-time team members as we do in our Fellows; after all, we’re a startup ourselves, and we’re on the hunt for smart, tenacious go-getters to propel the VFA rocketship to ever greater heights.

Does this sound like you?

  • You’re comfortable operating under ambiguity, and you don’t wait around to be told what to do — instead, you’re figuring out how you can add value.
  • You’re smart and a quick study, ready to solve problems big and small.
  • You’re high-character, and people like working with you.
  • You’re a strong communicator and a solid writer. You can crank out compelling, on-message emails to different audiences without missing a beat.
  • Above all else, you’re passionate about Venture for America’s mission. You would have jumped at the opportunity to be a Fellow yourself.

If so, we want you on the VFA team! Here are some of the reasons why we love working at VFA, and why we think you will, too:

  • You’ll earn a competitive salary with health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • We have some nice perks, like regular team lunches and weekly gym mornings.
  • You’ll have a ton of autonomy, and be trusted to self-manage and solve problems creatively.
  • You’ll work alongside a team of crazy motivated, high-caliber people who also have a lot of fun together, from impromptu crockpot cookoffs to quarterly team appreciation days.
  • You’ll suddenly have less trouble getting out of bed and going to work in the morning.

Bottom line: we work hard, we get a lot done, but we recognize that you’re a real person with a life outside of your job. And the best part? We’re hiring now.

  • Travel occasionally to VFA cities and accompany Andrew to meetings
  • Contribute/pitch in to all aspects of VFA as needed, from selection to training to office logistics

We’re looking for an energetic, savvy, do-it-all marketing guru who’s ready to dive in and help share the stories of VFA with potential Fellows, and drive the organization’s growth.

You:

  • Have worked in a marketing/branding/communications role (whether through rigorous internships or full-time), with experience in content creation, writing, social media, design, and/or other areas. Startup experience is a plus
  • Have a growth-oriented mindset while still valuing high-touch, quality content
  • Are a perfectionist who has next-level organizational skills and detail-orientation. Typos make you sick
  • Not only have very strong writing skills, but you love doing it. You can produce compelling content quickly in the VFA brand voice, tell a story, and adapt your writing for different audiences

  • Are familiar with email and content marketing, and excited to learn more
  • Can prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. You feel there is no task too small, and work well in the absence of structure
  • Possess social media savvy, and are able to identify opportunities and channels for sharing content and engaging our audiences
  • Have good instincts, and only have to ask how to do something once (maybe twice)
  • Have strong values alignment with VFA and our team. You truly believe in what VFA is doing and want to share it with the world
  • Have a B.A./B.S.; 1-3 years of professional experience is preferred

  • Capture and deliver inspiring VFA stories that educate potential VFA applicants and keep them excited about VFA from first touch point through hitting apply
  • Strike a balance by establishing and reinforcing our value proposition in everything you do without “selling” – we strive to represent the VFA experience genuinely at every turn
