Commitment to community and hunger for challenge have lured Keenan up and down the East Coast for most of her life. Originally from Chesapeake, Virginia, Keenan’s professional journey took her from the classrooms of Duke University, where she earned a degree in History, to a Department of Defense Counterterrorism Center in Washington D.C. where she learned many things, but it’s all Classified. After realizing her passion for direct impact work, Keenan ventured off to the wild places of the Mid-Atlantic where she led both outdoor expeditions and fundraising campaigns for the Baltimore Chesapeake Bay and Philadelphia Outward Bound Schools. After 4 years with Outward Bound, Keenan put down roots in Philadelphia—the original startup city—and joined the Venture for America team. As VFA’s Director of Philadelphia, Keenan manages community partnerships, builds relationships with donors and supports the (many) Fellows in her city. In her free time, you might find Keenan biking around Philly, adventuring with her two terriers, or doing one of a thousand DIY projects with her partner, Matt, on their 100+ year old row home in Northern Liberties.
